Why battery storage changes the maths for commercial solar

5 Oct 2026

Solar on its own serves the daytime load. Paired with storage, the same array can serve evening peaks, cut demand charges and firm up supply — this post explains the shift in plain terms.

Read

For years, commercial solar has been sized against the daytime load. The moment consumption moves past sunset — cold rooms, shifts, EV charging — the array alone stops matching the business. Battery storage closes that gap. Surplus generation that would otherwise be exported at low value is held and discharged when tariffs and demand charges bite. The result is not just more self-consumption; it is a more predictable energy bill. In this post we walk through when storage earns its place alongside solar, and the questions we ask before recommending it: load shape, tariff structure, space, and the duty the system will actually perform. Every site is different, and savings are indicative and site-specific — a proper site audit is always the first step.

What a site audit actually tells you before you commit to solar

2 Oct 2026

A rooftop can look perfect from the ground. A structured audit looks at shading, roof condition, electrical headroom and load shape — and often changes the plan for the better.

Read

The most expensive solar mistake is skipping the audit. Roof age, structural loading, shading from neighbouring structures, switchboard capacity and metering arrangements all shape what is worth building — and what is not. Our audit process covers four things: whether the roof can host the array safely, what the electrical connection will allow, how the load actually behaves through the day and the year, and what the tariff structure rewards. Sometimes the answer is a smaller array than hoped. Sometimes it is solar plus storage. Occasionally it is a wait until a roof refurbishment. That honesty upfront is what makes the business case hold once the system is running. Savings estimates from an audit are indicative and site-specific.

Treating waste as a resource: where waste-to-energy fits

29 Sept 2026

Not every waste stream belongs in a landfill. This post looks at how waste-to-energy slots into municipal and industrial waste management — and where it does not.

Read

Waste-to-energy is not a substitute for reducing and recycling; it is the layer that handles what remains. Segregation still comes first. But for mixed, non-recyclable streams — municipal solid waste after sorting, certain industrial residues — controlled treatment recovers energy that landfill simply buries. The practical questions are unglamorous and decisive: what is the composition of the stream, how consistent is it, who produces it and at what scale, and what does the local regulatory framework require. This post outlines how we assess a waste stream before proposing anything, and why we start with the waste, not the technology.

LFP chemistry: why it is becoming the default for stationary storage

26 Sept 2026

A technical overview of lithium iron phosphate — thermal stability, cycle life and cost trajectory — and what those properties mean for grid-scale and commercial battery systems.

Read

Chemistry choice is the single most consequential decision in a stationary battery system. Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) has moved to the front of that decision for good reasons. Thermal stability: LFP's olivine structure tolerates abuse far better than layered-oxide chemistries, lowering fire risk — a decisive factor for systems installed next to people and property. Cycle life: LFP cells routinely sustain thousands of deep cycles, which is what daily-cycling storage economics demand. Cost trajectory: LFP avoids cobalt and nickel, and its supply chain has scaled rapidly with electric-vehicle demand. This whitepaper summarises the properties that matter for BESS selection, and the trade-offs (notably energy density) that make LFP better suited to stationary systems than to some vehicle applications. Siting wind projects: land, wind resource and grid proximity

22 Sept 2026

Before any turbine order, three questions decide a wind project: is the wind resource real, is the land workable, and is the grid within reach.

Read

Wind projects are won and lost at the siting stage. Wind resource: measured data beats estimation. We look for site measurements over a meaningful period, terrain context and known wake effects before treating any number as bankable. Land: it is not just area — it is title clarity, access for heavy vehicles, setbacks from habitation, and the patience to assemble parcels across multiple owners. Grid: the distance to a viable substation and the available evacuation capacity often set the ceiling on project size before a single turbine is chosen. For landowners, this post also explains what a partnership typically looks like — lease structures, development timelines and what happens at each stage.

One group across cells, storage, solar, wind and waste-to-energy

18 Sept 2026

OMG Lumina Energy brings five energy businesses under one roof — here is how they connect, and what that means for the customers of each.

Read

OMG Lumina Energy Pvt Ltd brings five businesses under one group: LFP cell manufacturing, battery energy storage systems, solar, wind and waste-to-energy. The pillars are deliberately connected. Cells feed storage. Storage firms up solar and wind. Solar and wind generate clean power at scale. Waste-to-energy completes the picture by recovering energy from streams that would otherwise be landfilled. For customers, the point of one group is simpler: a single accountable partner whether the need is a rooftop audit, a storage system, a wind partnership or a waste-stream assessment — with the same standards of engineering and the same candour about what a site can and cannot deliver. This site now presents each business with its own page and its own enquiry route, so enquiries reach the right team directly.
